This manual aims to present an overview of the research on translation studies carried out in Romance-speaking countries. It mainly focuses on the Romance languages, but also takes into account other languages as well as general aspects, e.g., theoretical (models and theories of translation), linguistic (vocabulary, syntax, prosody), discursive (cohesion, coherence, genres), historical (the role of Latin), or practical questions (dubbing). The series Manuals of Romance Linguistics (MRL) aims to present a comprehensive, state-of-the-art overview of Romance linguistics. It will comprise approximately 60 volumes that can either be consulted individually or used as a series of books providing a detailed overall picture of the current state of research in Romance linguistics. A special focus will be placed on the presentation and analysis of the smaller languages, the linguae minores, which the two older reference works of the discipline, Lexikon der Romanistischen Linguistik (1988–2005) and Romanische Sprachgeschichte (2003–2008) did not discuss in detail, as well as on current research trends. Son objectif est de faire le point, voire de pousser plus avant la rflexion sur la recherche en traduction entre langues romanes, sans exclure a priori les traductions dans d'autres langues. Pour ce faire, on a pris en compte les multiples aspects de la problmatique de la aspects thoriques (p.ex. concepts de base, rapports entre linguistique et traductologie, types et modles de traduction et d'interprtation), linguistiques (lexique, syntaxe, phrasologie, prosodie), discursifs et pragmatiques (cohsion, progression thmatique, contexte et situation, genres), historiques (rle du latin) et pratiques (formation des traducteurs, questions juridiques, doublage et sous-titrages de films). S'adressant aux tudiants avancs et aux chercheurs, l'ouvrage tmoigne de la vitalit de la recherche traductologique actuelle dans les langues romanes. La 4e de couverture indique : "L'objectif inédit de l'ouvrage est de faire le point sur la recherche en traduction dans les pays de langues romanes. Ces dernières en constituent le centre d'intérêt principal mais non exclusif. Sont pris en compte aussi bien les aspects théoriques (concepts de base, modèles de traduction.) que linguistiques (lexique, syntaxe, prosodie), discursifs (cohésion, cohérence, genres), historiques (rôle du latin) ou pratiques (doublage de films)."
