It just keeps getting better, dense with precise and current information on various skin disorders that a seasoned dermatologist would want to know. If you want to refresh your memory quickly on laboratory evaluation and treatment options, this will be an invaluable book. Purpose: The book is intended as a sound and accessible source for treatment of various skin problems. Audience: Dermatologists are the audience. Features: Concise summaries of therapeutic options are listed for the majority of common skin diseases. Readers will be able to glance in seconds at the current choices and how much clinical data there is to back up each option. The chapter on pruritus did not mention gabapentin as a possible treatment for brachioradialus pruritus, and the discussion of hemangiomas in children did not mention imiquimod as possible treatment. All in all, the information is well organized and current. A reference list is provided at the end of each chapter. The appendix helpfully provides addresses, phone numbers, and web sites of foundations that are good patient education resources. Assessment: This is a definite buy. Get the paperback manual instead of the spiral -- the pages tend to tear out easily and the spiral catches on objects and becomes unwound. This is easy and quick to use. You can be smart in under a minute with it.
