معرفی کتاب «Manet's modernism : or, the face of painting in the 1860s» نوشتهٔ Michael Fried، منتشرشده توسط نشر University of Chicago Press در سال 1996. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

__Manet's Modernism__ is the culminating work in a trilogy of books by Michael Fried exploring the roots and genesis of pictorial modernism. Fried provides an entirely new understanding not only of the art of Manet and his generation but also of the way in which the Impressionist simplification of Manet's achievement had determined subsequent accounts of pictorial modernism down to the present. Like Fried's previous books, __Manet's Modernism__ is a milestone in the historiography of modern art. "Beautifully produced. . . . [Fried's] thought is always stimulating, if not provocative. This is an important book, which all students of modernism, in the broadest sense, will find rewarding."—__Virginia Quarterly Review__ "An astonishing piece of scholarship that will cause readers to rethink their understanding of Manet's influence, ambition, and achievement."—Gary Michael, __Bloomsbury Review__ "An audaciously brilliant book, long awaited and as essential reading for philosophers as for art historians."—Wayne Andersen, __Common Knowledge__ "Art history of the highest originality and distinction."—Arthur C. Danto, __New York Times Book Review__ Contents Illustrations f010 f011 f012 f013 f014 f015 Preface f017 Introduction: Manet before Impressionism MM002 MM003 MM004 MM005 MM006 MM007 MM008 MM009 MM010 MM011 Manet's Sources, 1859-1869 MM013 MM014 MM015 MM016 MM017 MM018 MM019 MM020 MM021 MM022 MM023 MM024 MM025 MM026 MM027 MM028 MM029 MM030 MM031 MM032 MM033 MM034 MM035 MM036 MM037 MM038 MM039 MM040 MM041 MM042 MM043 MM044 MM045 MM046 MM047 MM048 MM049 MM050 MM051 MM052 MM053 MM054 MM055 MM056 MM057 MM058 MM059 MM060 MM061 MM062 MM063 MM064 MM065 MM066 MM067 MM068 "Manet's Sources" Reconsidered MM138 MM139 MM140 MM141 MM142 MM143 MM144 MM145 MM146 MM147 MM148 MM149 MM150 MM151 MM152 MM153 MM154 MM155 MM156 MM157 MM158 MM159 MM160 The Generation of 1863 MM186 MM187 MM188 MM189 MM190 MM191 MM192 MM193 MM194 MM195 MM196 MM197 MM198 MM199 MM200 MM201 MM202 MM203 MM204 MM205 MM206 MM207 MM208 MM209 MM210 MM211 MM212 MM213 MM214 MM215 MM216 MM217 MM218 MM219 MM220 MM221 MM222 MM223 Manet In His Generation MM264 MM265 MM266 MM267 MM268 MM269 MM270 MM271 MM272 MM273 MM274 MM275 MM276 MM277 MM278 MM279 MM280 MM281 MM282 MM283 MM284 MM285 MM286 MM287 MM288 MM289 MM290 MM291 MM292 MM293 MM294 MM295 MM296 MM297 MM298 MM299 MM300 MM301 MM302 MM303 MM304 MM305 MM306 MM307 MM308 MM309 MM310 MM311 MM312 MM313 MM314 Between Realisms MM366 MM367 MM368 MM369 MM370 MM371 MM372 MM373 MM374 MM375 MM376 MM377 MM378 MM379 MM380 MM381 Coda: Manet's Modernism MM400 MM401 MM402 MM403 MM404 MM405 MM406 MM407 Appendix 1: Antonin Proust,L'Art d'Edouard Manet (1901) MM418 MM419 MM420 MM421 MM422 MM423 MM424 MM425 MM426 MM427 Appendix 2: Edmond Duranty,"Ceux qui seront les peintres" (1867) MM440 MM441 Appendix 3: Le Capitaine Pompilius[Carle Desnoyers] on Manet (1863) MM446 Appendix 4: Zacharie Astruc on Manet (1863) MM447 Notes MN452 MN453 MN454 MN455 MN456 MN457 MN458 MN459 MN460 MN461 MN462 MN463 MN464 MN465 MN466 MN467 MN468 MN469 MN470 MN471 MN472 MN473 MN474 MN475 MN476 MN477 MN478 MN479 MN480 MN481 MN482 MN483 MN484 MN485 MN486 MN487 MN488 MN489 MN490 MN491 MN492 MN493 MN494 MN495 MN496 MN497 MN498 MN499 MN500 MN501 MN502 MN503 MN504 MN505 MN506 MN507 MN508 MN509 MN510 MN511 MN512 MN513 MN514 MN515 MN516 MN517 MN518 MN519 MN520 MN521 MN522 MN523 MN524 MN525 MN526 MN527 MN528 MN529 MN530 MN531 MN532 MN533 MN534 MN535 Пустая страница Manet's Modernism is the culminating work in a trilogy of books by Michael Fried exploring the roots and genesis of pictorial modernism. Danto, New York Times Book Review Manet's Modernism, or, The Face of Painting in the 1860s is the culminating work in a trilogy of books by Michael Fried exploring the roots and genesis of pictorial modernism. Building on his earlier studies of the central antitheatrical tradition within Enlightenment and post-Enlightenment French painting, Fried argues that previous accounts of Edouard Manet as the first modernist painter are based on a simplistic reading of the situation Manet inherited and, partly as a result, fail to grasp the specificity, complexity, and ambition - also the deeply problematic nature - of his epochal paintings of the 1860s "Manet's Modernism", or, "The Face of Painting in the 1860s" is the culminating work in a trilogy of books by Michael Fried exploring the roots and genesis of pictorial modernism. It argues that the claiming of Manet as the first modernist painter is an over-simplification.
