معرفی کتاب «Lunar and Planetary Cartography in Russia (Astrophysics and Space Science Library, 425)» نوشتهٔ Vladislav Shevchenko, Zhanna Rodionova, Gregory Michael (auth.)، منتشرشده توسط نشر Springer International Publishing در سال 2016. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

This book is the first to document in depth the history of lunar and planetary cartography in Russia. The first map of the far side of the Moon was made with the participation of Lomonosov Moscow University (Sternberg Astronomical Institute, MSU) in 1960. The developed mapping technologies were then used in preparing the ℓ́ℓComplete Map of the Moonℓ́ℓ in 1967 as well as other maps and globes. Over the years, various maps of Mars have emerged from the special course ℓ́ℓMapping of extraterrestrial objectsℓ́ℓ in the MSU Geography Department, including the hypsometric map of Mars at a scale of 1:26,000,000, compiled by J.A. Ilyukhina and published in 2004 in an edition of 5,000 copies. A more detailed version of this map has since been produced with a new hypsometric scale. In addition, maps of the northern and southern hemispheres of Mars have been compiled for the hypsometric globe of Mars.℗ℓ Relief maps of Venus were made in 2008, 2010, and 2011, and hypsometric maps of Phobos and Deimos at a scale of 1:60,000 were published in 2011. History of Lunar and Planetary Cartography in Russia provides detailed information on the compilation of this diverse range of maps and will be of interest to all lunar and planetary cartographers Preface 6 Abbreviations 10 Acknowledgement 12 Contents 14 Chapter 1: The First Maps, Atlas and Globus of the Farside 15 References 27 Chapter 2: Complete Maps of the Moon, Atlases and Globes 28 First Complete Map of the Moon and the Second Part of the Atlas of the Lunar Farside (1967) 28 Complete Map of the Moon (2nd Edition, 1969) 36 Atlas of the Lunar Farside (1975) and Complete Map of the Moon (3rd Edition, 1979) 40 Overview Maps of the Moon, Published at MIIGAiK 49 References 52 Chapter 3: Cartography of the Lunar Nearside 54 First Topographic Map Scheme of a Region of the Lunar Surface 54 Map of the Moon: Equatorial Zone of the Nearside 58 Photomap of the Nearside Lunar Hemisphere 60 Map of the Moon: The Nearside in Telescopic View 62 The Lunokhods 64 References 70 Chapter 4: Thematic Mapping of the Moon 72 References 87 Chapter 5: Essays on Lunar Toponymy.
