Lilith's daughters : women and religion in contemporary fiction

It is known that sexism permeates almost every facet of the major traditional religions. Religious institutions are completely dominated by men, and that ideological reinforcement of this domination has contributed in no small part to the tragedy that has often been women's history. Through literary analysis rather than theological treatise, this work explores some of the ways in which contemporary women are perceiving, revising, and exorcising the archetypal images and ideas of traditional religions.
