La desafección política en Colombia: Un análisis sistémico al respecto

Political apathy manifests in different ways and it is a negative attitude towards the political system. In democracy, it is known as an attitude of indifference in regard to the regime, thus, it comprises abstentionism, a lack of interest in political matters, indifference about the democratic regime, and the lack of self-identification and affiliation with any political position or party; causes are many, from cultural and institutional to socioeconomic. The latter are analyzed from a systemic approach as characteristic and creators of the phenomenon. In order to achieve the objective of analyzing the relationship between political apathy and socioeconomic variables in Colombia, a method based on a sociopolitical, mixed, and analytic-descriptive approach was implemented. For this purpose, a literature review and a statistical analysis for correlation (SPSS6 with LAPOP7) was performed. Results demonstrate the validity of the method and the incidence of socioeconomic aspects on people ́s apathy. In conclusion, the hypothesis of age, socioeconomic strata, and education level influencing political apathy in Colombia is true, granting the possibility of drawing rigorous conclusions through a systemic approach.
