"This edited volume aims to describe the transformation of supply chain management (SCM) and logistics services by merging sustainable logistics, SCM, sustainable consumption and lifestyle research. This assessment of the transformation potential serves the development of sustainable business models and optimized decision-making systems for achieving sustainable economic value creation within a green economy. In 5 sections, the volume takes a unique transdisciplinary approach to assess sustainable business practices within SCM and the logistics sector, and to understand the interactions between logistics services and consumer lifestyles while creating transparency within the decision making process. This book will be of particular interest to academics, policymakers, planners, and politicians. Section 1 introduces readers to the importance of blended research and innovation between sustainable SCM and consumer lifestyles for transformation towards a green economy. Section 2 addresses the question of how trends and developments in consumption behavior and lifestyles influence the development of sustainable logistics. Section 3 discusses the transformation potential towards sustainable logistics using the food sector as an example. Section 4 focuses on strategic decision making in SCM, and how long-term improvements of sustainability performance can be achieved. Section 5 concludes with policy recommendations as well as research and innovation perspectives for future sustainable development with SCM and logistics."-- Provided by publisher Front Matter ....Pages i-xiv Front Matter ....Pages 1-1 Integrating Perspectives of Logistics and Lifestyles for a Sustainable Economy (Ani Melkonyan, Klaus Krumme)....Pages 3-20 Supply Chains and Systems of Sustainability: An Attempt to Close the Gap (Klaus Krumme)....Pages 21-60 Front Matter ....Pages 61-61 Leverage Points for Sustainable, Innovative Logistics Considering Consumer Lifestyles (Rosa Strube, Thomas Wagner)....Pages 63-86 Assessment of Consumer Attitudes Toward Sustainability in Food Logistics and the Role of Shopping Behavior and Personal Characteristics (Gerrit Stöckigt, Rosa Strube, Sarah Lubjuhn, Matthias Brand)....Pages 87-104 Green Bullwhip Effect Revisited: How Sustainable Lifestyles Might Influence Supply Chains (Matthias Klumpp)....Pages 105-114 Communicating Sustainable Logistic Innovations to Various Consumer Groups (Sarah Lubjuhn, Martine Bouman, Roel Lutkenhaus, Klaus Krumme)....Pages 115-139 Front Matter ....Pages 141-141 Local and Sustainable Food Businesses: Assessing the Role of Supply Chain Coordination (Tim Gruchmann, Madeleine Böhm, Klaus Krumme, Simon Funcke, Simon Hauser, Ani Melkonyan)....Pages 143-163 A System Dynamics-Based Simulation Model to Analyze Consumers’ Behavior Based on Participatory Systems Mapping – A “Last Mile” Perspective (Gustavo De La Torre, Tim Gruchmann, Vasanth Kamath, Ani Melkonyan, Klaus Krumme)....Pages 165-194 Diffusion of a Social Innovation: Spatial Aspects of “Foodsharing” Distribution in Germany (Romy Kölmel, Carolin Baedeker, Jonas Böhm)....Pages 195-208 Front Matter ....Pages 209-209 Scenario Planning for Sustainable Food Supply Chains (Ani Melkonyan, Tim Gruchmann, Adrian Huerta, Klaus Krumme)....Pages 211-233 Applications of Digital Technologies in Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Fuyin Wei, Cyril Alias, Bernd Noche)....Pages 235-263 Sustainable Logistics and Transportation Systems: Integrating Optimization and Simulation Analysis to Enhance Strategic Supply Chain Decision-Making (Tim Gruchmann, Jan Eiten, Gustavo De La Torre, Ani Melkonyan)....Pages 265-279 Front Matter ....Pages 281-281 Recommendations for Politics, Companies, and Intermediaries to Support the Transformation Toward Sustainable Supply Chains (Nomo Braun)....Pages 283-288 Research and Innovation Perspectives on Integrated Supply Chains in a Sustainable Economy (Klaus Krumme, Ani Melkonyan)....Pages 289-307 Back Matter ....Pages 309-315
