Despite their rich tradition, the __Carmina Anacreontea__ transmitted in the Palatine Anthology have received little scholarly attention. This neglect is linked to questions concerning their authenticity. Long read as poems by the ancient lyricist Anacreon, they are now regarded instead as imitations of Anacreontic lyricism. This volume presents the latest findings on the language, poetology, tradition, and reception of this lyrical collection. Preserved In The Anthologia Palatina, The Carmina Anacreontea Have Enjoyed Widespread Reception. The Sixty Short Poems On Different Sympotic Topics Such As Love, Wine, And Song Were Composed Predominantly Duting The Imperial Age In Imitation Of Anacreon's Archaic Lyric. This Volume Presents The Latest Scholarship On The Language, Tradition, And Reception Of This Collection And Explores The Poetics Of Imitation By Focusing On Aspects Of Mimesis, Poiesis, And Poetic Inspiration.-- Anacreon's Palinode / Hans Bernsdorff -- Anacreontea Avant La Lettre : Euripides' Cyclops 495-518 / Peter Bing -- Anacreon, Hellenistic Epigram And The Anacreontic Poet / Kathryn Gutzwiller -- Anacreon, The Connoisseur Of Desires : An Anacreontic Reading Of Menecrates' Sepulchral Epigram (ikyzikos 18, 520) / Francesca Dell'oro -- Dialect In The Anacreontea / Alexander Sens -- Come Now, Best Of Painters, Paint My Lover : The Poetics Of Ecphrasis In The Anacreontea / Mario Baumann -- The Problem Of Self-thematisation In The Carmina Anacreontea 1, 6 And 32 / Alexander Rudolph -- Ton ʹanacreonta Mimou : Imitation And Enactment In The Anacreontics / Glenn W. Der Grund ist eng mit der Echtheitsfrage der Gedichte verknüpft: Während die 60 Gedichte lange als authentische Dichtung des archaischen Lyrikers Anakreon gelesen wurden, gelten sie heute aus sprachlich-stilistischen Gründen als kaiserzeitliche Nachahmungen anakreontischer Lyrik, die von verschiedenen Autoren zwischen dem 1. und 6.
