Higher education in sport has become a hot issue in Europe over the last ten years - not only is it now seen by many educators as an integral part of higher education, but sport itself has become extremely important in the European political arena.''Higher Education in Sport in Europe'' examines both aspects of sport in education against the backdrop of the European Education Reform Process, with a focus on the Thematic Network Project: Aligning a European Higher Education Structure in Sport Science - a four year project that developed guidelines for future curricula in Sport Coaching, Health and Fitness, Sport Management, and Physical Education in order to ensure pan-European academic quality in sports education Higher Education in Sport in Europe is a topical subject in several respects: academic sport education in European countries as an integral part of the European Higher Education Area on the one hand and sport itself as the subject matter of European politics on the other.
