Observatoires du Pic du Midi et de Toulouse I would like to say, first, how grateful I am to the colleagues who decided to have this Colloquium devoted to high-angular-resolution in solar physics, and particularly to my old friend Dick Dunn who accepted to travel eight thousand kilometers and back to summarize here what I have done in that field, where he is a prominent connoisseur. Needless to say, I deeply appreciated his recommendations for testing solar pictures : "You could compare your results to those from space when available; alternatively, compare your pictures to those from Pic-du-Midi.; and I am happy, too, to learn that until 15 years ago, Zirin and himself were called "dermatologists"; it did not happen to me, contrary to what he suspects, but that was for the simple reason that people, in France, did use, instead, the more trivial words "post-dard maker". And I remember that almost thirty years ago, more than one famous theorist positively denied the existence of some of the sharp features recently detected at the Pic, because they contradicted the theory ! So, may I risk a question : if things have changed, is it because the theorists refined their theories and needed sharper observations to support them, or because the bulk of high resolution pictures in the market forced them to refine their theories ? I shall come back to such matters soon. At the moment, I would simply express my strong support to Dick Dunn when he says that so much is still to be expected from high resolution observations -except that he may be slightly too optimistic when relying upon my activity for the thirty years to come ...
