The book features a detailed discussion of previous research, with many references that are quite up-to-date. It also includes discussion of some environmental factors that are not usually thought of as ""neurotoxins"" -- for example, noise, light, temperature, and vibration. At more than a thousand pages in length, this book will be useful mainly as a reference for those specializing in research concerning neurotoxins and for libraries at medical schools active in such research. For the clinician or medical toxicologist, the emphasis on cellular and molecular mechanisms, and slighting of clinical implications, makes this volume less useful. In addition, the authors tend to summarize previously published research without critically analyzing the study methods or validity of any conclusions and to be all-inclusive without focusing on the key points.
