Back again, back again, jiggety-jig . . . No, that's not the way it goes. But you get the idea. Grantville Gazette , Issue 52 is ready and waiting for you. We have a new author this issue, Clair Kiernan, who has written "Nun Danket." You won't want to miss it. As well, Bjorn Hasseler brings back Astrid and company in "NESS: The Railroad Missions." Another "don't miss" story, not that we think you should miss any of them. Kerryn Offord continues Dylan and Sophia's story with "Family Values." And we're very pleased to have an offering from Virginia DeMarce, who has been absent from these pages for much too long. Check out "An Uneasy Kind of Peace, Episode One." Jack Carroll and Edith Wild are going strong with "The Undergraduate, Episode Four," and Rainer Prem gives us "Ein feste Burg, Episode 13." Lots of great fiction this go-round. "Marine Radio in the 1632 Universe" by Jack Carroll tells you just about anything you ever wanted to know on that subject, so feel free to enjoy it all. Kristine Kathryn Rusch is slogging away, and she'll tell you all about it in her column, Notes From The Buffer Zone, with "A Science Fiction Writer's Lament." Have a great time. Grantville Gazette , Issue 52, there This book is available for $29.95 from the ARRL web site ( or, in the UK, from the RSGB (which publishes it) for a similar price. I have no idea why a handful of sellers have listed even used copies for hundreds of dollars (at one point over the past few months, the top-priced copy was above $600!) The book is in print and not rare at all. For the sake of accuracy, the author (actually editor) of the book listed on this page is Andy Barter (see the cover image for confirmation). Dick Biddulph is the editor of the outdated 1997 first edition (which is out of print, obviously, but isn't rare either - you can currently buy it new from ARRL, or used on Amazon from $1.99). The current page is the 2007 second edition. It is indisputable that without weapons and their associated systems, a navy is of little use. But weapons have come a long way since the days of cast iron cannons and solid shot. Today's naval weapons are as complex as they are necessary, making extensive use of radar, sonar, lasers, computers, and a host of other supporting components. By Peter N. Saveskie. Includes Index.
