About the Author Having ended up in the unrewarding career of IT, Mahoney found himself yearning for a life more creative. In his formative, halcyon years he served in the Royal Navy, eventually seeing action in the Second Gulf war. He learned an important lesson in the process, in that it was better to write about action, than to see it in the flesh. Having harboured desires to write since a young age, this hadnt yet extended any further than doing some work experience for his local paper at the tender young age of sixteen. Successive careers and a desire to do something for himsef led him to start writing about what he liked. Having been raised on a diet of literature and art history he found it natural to write about the renaissance. Ultimately his aim was to create a world of adventuring knights, of warring city states and the rise and fall of empires. Mahoney lives in the heart of England and has a five year old daughter from his first wife and has a passion for motorbikes, astronomy and dreams of escaping the 9 to 5.
