دربارهٔ نویسنده

جان کابات-زین، دکترای زیست‌شناسی مولکولی از مؤسسه‌ی فناوری ماساچوست (MIT) است. او استاد بازنشسته‌ی پزشکی در دانشکده‌ی پزشکی دانشگاه ماساچوست و بنیان‌گذار و مدیر سابق کلینیک کاهش استرس (Stress Reduction Clinic) و مرکز ذهن‌آگاهی در پزشکی، بهداشت و جامعه در این دانشگاه است. کابات-زین با تلفیق علم روز و حکمت‌های شرقی، نقش محوری در ورود ذهن‌آگاهی به جریان اصلی پزشکی و روان‌شناسی غرب داشته است. کتاب‌های او به بیش از سی زبان ترجمه شده و جوایز متعددی از جمله جایزه‌ی «پیشگام در پزشکی تلفیقی» و «جایزه‌ی ذهن و مغز» را از آنِ خود کرده است. مقدمه‌ی این نسخه نیز توسط تیک نات هان، راهب و معلم مشهور بودایی، نوشته شده است.
