معرفی کتاب «مرزهای امپراتوری روم: مرز روم در مصر» (با عنوان لاتین Frontiers of the Roman Empire: the Roman Frontier in Egypt: Frontières de L'empire Romain : la Frontière Romaine En Égypte) نوشتهٔ David J. Breeze & Michel Reddé، منتشرشده توسط نشر Archaeopress Access Archaeology در سال 2021. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.
The frontiers of the Roman empire together form the largest monument of one of the world’s greatest states. They stretch for some 7,500km through 20 countries which encircle the Mediterranean Sea. The remains of these frontiers have been studied by visitors and later by archaeologists for several centuries. Many of the inscriptions and sculpture, weapons, pottery and artefacts created and used by the soldiers and civilians who lived on the frontier can be seen in museums. Equally evocative of the lost might of Rome are the physical remains of the frontiers themselves. The aim of this series of books is not only to inform the interested visitor about the history of the frontiers but to act as a guidebook as well. The Roman military remains of Egypt are remarkable in their variety and in their state of preservation. They deserve to be better known. They include forts, quarries under the authority of the army and whose materials were used in the monumental buildings of Rome, as well as the roads which crossed the desert landscape and brought the Mediterranean into con¬tact with the Indian Ocean. It is hoped that each reader of this book will enjoy learning more about the remarkable Roman inheritance of Egypt. The full text is presented side-by-side dual-language in English and French.ISBN : 9781789699463 Cover Copyright Page Title Page About the Authors CONTENTS / SOMMAIRE Foreword / Avant-propos FRONTIERS OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE Common cultural heritage of the Roman empire The Roman empire Frontiers and trade The “Frontiers of the Roman Empire” World Heritage Site The definition of a World Heritage Site The task ahead History and extent of frontiers Rome ́s foreign policy The location of frontiers The army and frontiers The purpose of frontiers Soldiers and civilians Military administration Research on Roman frontiers Inscriptions and documents Survey and excavation Aerial survey Protection and presentation of frontiers Future perspectives FRONTIÈRES DE L ́EMPIRE ROMAIN Le Patrimoine culturel commun de l’empire romain L’empire romain Frontières et commerce Le site du patrimoine mondial des « Frontières de l’Empire Romain » Définition d’un site du patrimoine culturel mondial La mission à remplir Histoire et étendue des frontières La politique étrangère de Rome L’étendue des frontières L’armée et les frontières La fonction des frontières Soldats et population civile Administration militaire La recherche sur les frontières romaines Inscriptions et documents Prospection et fouilles Photographie aérienne La protection et la présentation des frontières Des perspectives pour l’avenir THE ROMAN FRONTIER IN EGYPT The garrison The distribution of troops across the territory Nubia The mines and quarries of the Eastern Desert The eastern trade trails Towards late Antiquity Late Antiquity The army of Egypt and its frontier LA FRONTIÈRE ROMAINE EN ÉGYPTE La garnison La répartition des troupes sur le territoire La Nubie Les mines et les carrières du désert oriental Les pistes du commerce oriental Vers l’antiquité tardive L’Antiquité tardive L’armée d’Égypte et sa frontière General books on frontiers/ouvrages généraux sur les frontières Individual frontiers/frontières individuelles Select bibliography for Egypt/Bibliographie succincte sur l’armée romaine en Égypte Illustration acknowledgements/Crédits des illustrations
