FM: Modern Neurosurgery: Clinical Translation of Neuroscience Advances

معرفی کتاب «FM: Modern Neurosurgery: Clinical Translation of Neuroscience Advances» نوشتهٔ Dr. Dennis A. Turner، منتشرشده توسط نشر CRC Press LLC در سال 2005. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

Focusing on how increased understanding of brain function affects clinical neuroscience, this incisive text explores the interface between neuroscience and clinical neuroscience advances by examining the hypotheses that drive this evolution. The author reviews the relevant underpinnings of new neurosurgical techniques, treatments, and conceptual approaches, which are likely to shape clinical neuroscience over the next decade. A critical aspect of this rational approach is to underscore what needs to be done in each field, potentially leading to further study and improvements. Doody Review Services Reviewer: Celso Agner, MD, MSc(University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine) Description: Modern neurosurgery relies to a great extent on the development of the neurosciences. Recent advances stemmed from the continuous search for answers in science. This book targets such development and the potential interactions of the current knowledge in both fields. Purpose: The purpose of this book is to address the different nuances in the management of neurosurgical conditions based on science. The authors' objectives were, in my view, fully achieved and, in my personal opinion, are valid. Audience: The target audiences for this book are neuroscientists and neurosurgeons interested in the resurgence of science as a major influence on clinical medicine. Those are worthy objectives fully achieved by the authors, who are credible authorities in the field. Features: Twenty-eight authors contribute sixteen chapters to this book. The chapters mostly report the happy marriage between science and clinical medicine. In those, the interaction is productive, suggesting an adventure never before experienced in the history of neurosurgery. It is an pleasurable, well-referenced, and well-illustrated read that justifies the steep price of the book. It is a worthwhile investment, however. Assessment: This is a good book that should be part of neurosurgery and neurosciences libraries, as interaction becomes a very necessary goal. Focusing on how increased understanding of brain function affects clinical neuroscience, this volume explores the interface between non-clinical and clinical neuroscience advances by examining the hypotheses that drive this evolution. The book reviews the relevant underpinnings of neurosurgical techniques, treatments, and conceptual approaches, which are likely to shape clinical neuroscience over the next few years. A critical aspect of this rational approach is to underscore what needs to be done in each field, potentially leading to further study and improvements. Most books on the topic of 21st century neurological sciences concentrate on either reviews of current techniques or on treatment schemes with timelines to clinical application greater than 10 years. Making a bold departure by emphasizing hypotheses on the horizon, Modern Neurosurgery: Clinical Translation of Neuroscience Advances discusses treatments being developed which may have a profound impact on our neuroscience knowledge The concept of "translational" research is based on the effective rendering of research ideas into actual clinical practice - in other words "translating" the research finding into clinical usefulness.
