Blossoms won the 9th Mao Dun Literary Prize in 2015 and was selected as 2013 Chinese Good Book of CCTV which is honored as the perfect long-length novel about Shanghai. This is a regional novel: the characters’ walkabouts can be found their corresponding "tangible" map. This is also a memory novel:young people in the 1960s with their own dreams which became colorful memories of love stories across differnt places; sensual pleasures in the Nineties came and went one after another. The story frequently alternates between these two time, bringing legends and carrying on with "inconsistence" and complicated situations about Shanghai. Scrupulous satire and aggressive cartoons hide Shanghai’s fashions. What is left behind might be tomorrow’s enlightenment... Flowers will eventually fade, Death will finally befall, a song will come to a stop, and a party will ultimately end.
