Description:This one of the few books that offer comprehensive differential diagnosis lists in an easy to access format and it is one of the few books in ultrasound to present material in this manner.
Purpose:The purpose is to help readers organize their thought processes when presented with certain sonographic and clinical information.
Audience:It is intended for practicing radiologists and residents in training. It is probably too advanced for ultrasound technologists.
Features:This book covers all anatomic regions of interest, with the exception of obstetrics, that may arise in an ultrasound environment. The comprehensive nature of the book is its best feature. There are few, if any, areas that are not covered in detail. Although it may be more appropriate to devote a separate book to them, the inclusion of obstetric cases would be helpful as well.
Assessment:This is a good quality book and a useful reference. I will undoubtedly use it as a tool for problem solving particularly difficult cases in my practice. At first, I was not sure if I liked the fact that all images are at the end of each chapter, but I ended up liking the ability to quickly cross reference the sonographic appearance of different abnormalities that might be considered in the same differential.
