Ex Vivo and In Vivo Assessment of Vertebral Strength and Vertebral Fracture Risk Assessed by Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry

معرفی کتاب «Ex Vivo and In Vivo Assessment of Vertebral Strength and Vertebral Fracture Risk Assessed by Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry» نوشتهٔ Abdellah El Maghraoui، منتشرشده توسط نشر INTECH Open Access Publisher در سال 2011. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has established dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) as the best densitometric technique for assessing bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women and has based the definitions of osteopenia and osteoporosis on its results. DXA enables accurate diagnosis of osteoporosis, estimation of fracture risk and monitoring of patients undergoing treatment. Additional features of DXA include measurement of BMD at multiple skeletal sites, vertebral fracture assessment and body composition assessment, including fat mass and lean soft tissue mass of the whole body and the segments. This book contains reviews and original studies about DXA and its different uses in clinical practice (diagnosis of osteoporosis, monitoring of BMD measurement) and in medical research in several situations (e.g. assessment of morphological asymmetry in athletes, estimation of resting energy expenditure, assessment of vertebral strength and vertebral fracture risk, or study of dry bones such as the ulna) 00 preface_ Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry......Page 1 01 a Part 1_ Bone Mineral Density......Page 13 01 Interpreting a DXA Scan in Clinical Practice......Page 15 02 Monitoring DXA Measurement in Clinical Practice......Page 31 03 Bone Loss and Seasonal Variation in Serial DXA Densitometry – A Population-Based Study......Page 41 04 a Part 2_ Body Composition......Page 55 04 The Validity of Body Composition Measurement Using Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry for Estimating Resting Energy Expenditure......Page 57 05 Dxa as a Tool for the Assessment of Morphological Asymmetry in Athletes......Page 71 06 Body Composition in Disabilities of Central Nervous System......Page 87 07 a Part 3_ Miscellaneous......Page 107 07 Internal Design of the Dry Human Ulna by DXA......Page 109 08 Ex Vivo and In Vivo Assessment of Vertebral Strength and Vertebral Fracture Risk Assessed by Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry......Page 117 09 Dietary Protein and Bone Health......Page 133
