Author Guo Jun is a monk who received training in monasteries from youth. He is not only a foremost expert in the subject, but also serves as Abbot at leading monastic institutes in the US and Asia. Author also advanced degrees in biotechnology and Buddhist studies, so is conversant with the Western academic tradition.
Chan Buddhism is the Chinese and earlier form of Zen Buddhism, thus the book should be of great interest to the rapidly expanding readership in Zen
