Energy, Waste and the Environment: A Geochemical Perspective (Geological Society Special Publication)

معرفی کتاب «Energy, Waste and the Environment: A Geochemical Perspective (Geological Society Special Publication)» نوشتهٔ R. Gieré, Peter Stille، منتشرشده توسط نشر Geological Society of London در سال 2004. این کتاب در 438 صفحه، فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

This book provides incentives for further development of sustainable fuel cycles through a novel and interdisciplinary approach to an Earth science-related topic. The main focus is on geochemical concepts in immobilizing, isolating or neutralizing waste derived from energy production and consumption. The book also addresses the issue of using some types of energy-derived waste as alternative raw materials. Moreover, it highlights research on how certain wastes can be used for energy production, an increasingly important aspect of modern integrated waste management strategies. The main objectives are to: (a) identify the most serious environmental problems related to various types of power generation and associated waste accumulation; (b) present strategies, based on natural analogue materials, for the immobilization of toxic and radioactive waste components through mineralogical barriers; (c) discuss modern procedures for reuse of waste or certain waste components; and (d) review the importance of geochemical modelling in describing and predicting the interaction between waste and the environment. earth Sciences Are Becoming Ever More Concerned With How Their Disciplines, Their Research And Teaching, Need To Become Directly Related To Environmental And Social Concerns. The Biology Of The Surface Layers And At Depth Is Increasingly Important In The Geosciences. A Knowledge Of Biological And Physical-chemical Functions In Terrestrial Ecosystems (such As Biomass Production, Filtering, Buffering And Transformation, Water Routing, And Maintenance Of Biodiversity) That Are Studied In Soil Science Provides A Background For Earth Sciences.

the Papers In This Volume Address Issues Of Soil Formation, Soil Management, Soil Protection And The Role Of Biodiversity That Must Be Considered For A Sustainable Soil Use. The Papers Are Aimed At Geoscientists In The Broadest Sense, And Others Concerned With Soil Use Who Will Also Find Chapters Relevant To Their Interests. Soils Knowledge Used Within Other Earth Sciences Is Essential For Maintaining Healthy Ecosystems, For The Solutions Of Problems In Environmental Quality And For Sustainable Use Of Soils By Humans.

presents A Series Of British Case Studies In Environmental Geology. The Book Covers Information About The Scope And Definition Of The Subject; Case Studies In Engineering Geology And Waste Management, Natural Or Coastal Hazards; And Information About Environmental Geology And Education. Defines The Scope And Breadth Of Environmental Geology In Britain Together With Case Studies. The Case Studies Would Be Highly Relevant For Use By Undergraduates. Also Presents Views From The Academic, Commercial And Political Spheres. Issues Of Policy Are Dealt With In Addition To Practice In Environmental Management. 438 Pages, Hardback
