EMP Escape

Following the timeline of the original EMP Journey. A Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) hit the country and the Western Hemisphere. Although the East fared better, it was still devastated and some rogue nations blamed the U.S. for this natural event. North Korea was supposed to have disposed of their nuclear program, but that obviously had not happened because they unleashed their entire arsenal on the United States. Although U.S. countermeasures were successful at intercepting and neutralizing most incoming missiles, both Los Angeles and Washington D.C. were destroyed by North Korean nuclear warheads. The U.S. military was still operational and launched a counterattack against North Korea, To avoid nuclear fallout spreading to neighboring countries, notably China, North Korea was hit with conventional weapons and had their remaining infrastructure destroyed. China still protested and declared war on the U.S. while it was still suffering from the loss of their entire power grid. After the U.S. repelled a naval invasion they responded with an EMP strike to destroy Chinas ability to launch its nuclear missiles from the mainland. China still had submarines with nuclear missiles and launched those against U.S. cities in the Pacific Northwest. The U.S. made a retaliatory strike of a comparable extent. They could have destroyed China completely, but other nations still had nuclear weapons and the U.S. president did not want to start a nuclear Armageddon EMP Journey Book 2 will focus on the trials of one American family and their friends. The Bell family consisted of David Bell and his wife Jennifer. The couple along with their 16 year old daughter, Judy and their 22 year old son, Barry were deeply involved in the prepping lifestyle. David had built a house in Pittsburgh with a hidden shelter full of prepper supplies to overcome any sort of apocalyptic event. With a prepper friend he had also built a farm next to the Allegheny National Forest 150 miles north of his house. The farm was set up with defenses and large building that could house his extended family in the event of an emergency. Of course over time the family spread out around the country until only David, his wife and daughter remained in Pittsburgh. His son Barry was going to college in California, and his siblings had all married and moved to various places around the country. When the CME hit and was followed by nuclear strikes the family all headed to northern Pennsylvania. With society destructing around them the travelers had to contend with hungry, desperate, and lawless people who stood in their paths, stole their supplies, and looked to cause them harm.
