No fictitious character since Sherlock Holmes has so captured the imagination of the public as has Ian Fleming’s famous Secret Service agent, Commander James Bond. The books about him are now selling in their millions, while the film adaptations have set new box- office records. Bond has literally become a household name throughout the civilized world: today he is a living, breathing man to all those who read about him.
