Diversity in Africa: The Coming of Age of a Continent provokes reflection on diversity through a collection of essays and papers whose authors themselves are diverse in experience and nationalities - representing all continents except Antarctica. The voices of the authors share their realities of diversity by offering unique perspectives into diversity on an individual level, as well as the experiential challenges of implementing diversity programmes at the country, public sector, company and civil society levels. Many authors' realities of diversity were selected to expand the definition of diversity, beyond the compliance parameters of gender, ethnicity and physical ability. Africa's diversity is its greatest resource and challenge. In this book, leaders from business, government, academia and the voluntary sector discuss the implications of this diversity for leadership. Throughout, contributors relate organisational issues to the social, political and cultural contexts and focus on the role of effective leadership. Africa is a unique continent, and the solutions to its multifaceted problems and challenges are only going to come from its own soil. The collection of papers from authors, who are preeminent voices in the diversity discipline on the continent, explores notions of cross-vengence and hybridization of Africa's sense making processes and activities - seeking to draw the best from its colonial past (and discarding the dysfunctional) - herein, the authors believe, is the unifying force through which Africa can subordinate its individual and selfish goals and aims, in favour of the group/common good, so that all in the region may benefit. The book explores the persoanl, organisational, as well as societal dimensions, and is filled with powerful stories, new perspectives for thinking, best practice, researched academic frameworks, and learning emanating from the continent itself. It is a book written by Africans, for Africa! The reader will be challenged to rethink and reflec on dominent worldviews and its deficiencies, that are critiqued and reinterpreted by the authors in the book, and will also be encouraged by the new paterial and perspectives presented. Children will never have accurate thoughts about themselves until they have accurate thoughts about God! Jaxon is disheartened because he has his heart set on pleasing God and he can't quite figure out how to accomplish his goal. His beloved Gigi notices the perplexed look upon his face and settles in to help him think through his predicament. Their conversation will teach children the difficult concept of "Glorifying God" and introduce them to the fact that there is nothing we can give God or do for Him to make Him love us more! Children will never have accurate thoughts about themselves until they have accurate thoughts about God. Jaxon's Glory Story shares the Truth of God's Word, which should be the standard by which everything else in their lives is measured.
