Simone Rosenkranz. Thesis (doctoral) - Universität, Luzern, 2000. Includes Bibliographical References (p. 439-472). Discusses Jewish-Christian polemics in the Islamic world in the 7th-10th centuries, based on liturgical and apocalyptic Christian texts, as well as on halakhic Jewish texts. Most of the "Adversus Judaeos" texts were written during the 7th century, under the influence of the Byzantine intellectual world, in which the Christians polemicized almost exclusively against the Jews. After the 7th century, Christian attacks were directed increasingly against Islam, and anti-Jewish writing lost centrality. In both anti-Jewish and anti-Islam texts it is possible to find anti-Jewish stereotypes and motives, which originated in patristic literature. On the other hand, Jewish "Adversus Christianos" literature was not a reaction to Christian persecution, since in the Islamic world the Christians were a minority like the Jews, but rather a confrontation with Christian dogmas, such as the Trinity.
