German description: Ehre ist ein typisches Merkmal vormoderner Gesellschaften, zu denen auch die athenische gehort. Die Athener entwickelten aber im Gegensatz zu anderen mit der Demokratie eine politische Ordnung, die das alltagliche soziale Leben pragte und daruber hinaus in hohem Ansehen der Burger stand. Der Wert der Ehre galt wie die demokratische Polis als normativer Bezugspunkt und sinnstiftende Einheit, an der sich die Athener in ihrem Verhalten orientierten.
