Der bessere Nachbar? : Das polnische Preußenbild zwischen Politik und Kulturtransfer (1765-1795)

This study explores the Polish image of Prussia in the second half of the 18^th^ century, a period marked by the division of Poland and Lithuania and the loss of national independence, while at the same time, the apex of the Polish enlightenment. The author questions the prevalent notion of a strong negative image of Prussia in Poland and reveals forms of reciprocal cultural transfer and political relations. * Offers new insights on Polish–Prussian relations * Shows the divisions of Poland and Lithuania as a central event in European history In der deutschen Preußen- und Aufklärungsforschung wurde der polnisch-preußische Kulturtransfer des 18. Jahrhunderts bislang kaum thematisiert. Am Beispiel des polnischen Preußenbildes in der Zeit der Aufklärung untersucht die Autorin, wie sich das gegenseitige Verhältnis angesichts der repressiven Polen-Politik des benachbarten Preußen gestaltete. Folgerichtig stehen die vergessenen bzw. vernachlässigten Interferenzen des Kulturellen mit dem Politischen im Mittelpunkt der Analyse, die sich ihrerseits auf die Korrelation zwischen der historischen Entwicklung und ihrer Deutung anhand einer bestimmten Bildproduktion konzentriert. Es zeigt sich, dass das "ewige" negative Preußenbild der Polen erst im Zuge der nationalen Bewegung des 19.
