De Men Phieu Luu Ky (The Adventure of a Cricket) is appropriate for both children and adults. First written in the 1940s, when the country had not yet gained independence. The animal characters represent the Vietnamese youth, feeling the stirrings of revolution and dreaming of a stateless and classless world. The setting is based on Nghia Do Village, in the suburban area of Ha Noi. The characters have their adventures along the tiny To Lich River, which runs at one end of the village.
