Continuum 1 is a revolutionary concept in anthologies. This volume is the first of a series in which eight leading S.F. writers create their own very different worlds to which they will return in volumes 2, 3 & 4. Among them are Anne McCaffrey, Edgar Pangborn, Poul Anderson and Philip Jose Farmer. A tightly woven series of threads ties the volumes of Continuum together -- each story stands as a separate entity, yet is the first of four episodes which appear in each successive volume of the series. Roger Elwood (January 13, 1943 � February 2, 2007) was an American science fiction writer and editor, perhaps best known for having edited a large number of anthologies and collections for a variety of publishers in the early 1970s. The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction observes that "At one time it was estimated that Roger Elwood alone constituted about one quarter of the total market for SF short stories."
