معرفی کتاب «Colonial Kids: An Activity Guide to Life in the New World (Hands-On History)» نوشتهٔ Laurie Winn Carlson، منتشرشده توسط نشر Independent Publishers Group (Chicago Review Press) در سال 1997. این کتاب در فرمت epub، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

Young adventurers can learn about the settling of America while enjoying activities like stitching a sampler, pitching horseshoes, making an almanac, churning butter, and more. Children's Literature Carlson has created an excellent reference for the elementary and middle school teacher who is teaching a unit on the colonial period of American history. Many of the activities and teaching suggestions included can be incorporated into the classroom or a learning center with little or no supervision of the students. Simple activities such as churning butter, dipping candles, making a quill pen, and pitching horseshoes introduce the student to the everyday life of a colonial citizen. Simple to understand maps and timelines, as well as historical facts, have been included throughout. Although this will be a welcome addition to any academic setting, Colonial Kids could be a valuable resource to the home school setting. Following a workbook style, without the endless questions and fill-in spaces, a home school student could explore this material on his/her own with very little supervision. Gives instructions for preparing foods, making clothes, and creating other items used by European settlers in America, thereby providing a description of the daily life of these colonists.
