The Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation follow a rigorous process of review to develop and disseminate the only educational standards certified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The Classroom Assessment Standards are intended to provide classroom teachers in pre-kindergarten through high school with research-based principles and guidelines for effective assessment of student learning. These standards do not apply to state or district mandated tests as these are not under the control of the classroom teacher.
