معرفی کتاب «Citizen-king: the life of Louis-Philippe, King of the French» نوشتهٔ T.E.B. Howarth، منتشرشده توسط نشر Eyre & Spottiswoode در سال 1961. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.
Born into powerful Orléans family, Louis-Philippe was brought up under the tuition of Madame de Genlis and reached young manhood imbued with liberal ideals just as the French revolution wrought devastating changes. After two years of distinguished service in the French army, he fled abroad to avoid the Revolutionary Tribunal. Soon he found himself a penniless vagrant wandering throughout Europe and America. Twenty-one years later he returned to France and, after the July riots of 1830, accepted the throne. From then on his life was an unending struggle to maintain a delicate balance between the violent forces of the Legitimist Right and the Republican Left. Louis-Philippe reigned as the last king of France from 1830-1848.
