This is a collection of 15 short stories which are set in Florida, Texas and some unnamed town in the New South. The characters inhabit low rise condominiums, cheap hotels and used car lots, they eat fried chicken, burgers and spend a lot of time watching TV, visiting malls and running about. Rita says the living-room lights keep her awake when she goes to bed before I do, which is most of the time.
