This book narrates and analyzes the southern tours by Booker T. Washington and his associates in 1908-1912. The author provides analysis of the importance of these tours in early 20th-century race relations, and relates them to Washington’s racial philosophy and its impact on the various parts of black society. Instead of focusing on how Washington struggled against W.E.B. DuBois in a quest for leadership, this study emphasizes how he fought to undermine white supremacy. From 1908 To 1912, Booker T.
