Radical right organizations and the radical wing of the National Party in South Africa came under the influence of the German Nazis the more the "Jewish question" became a leading issue for them. Ch. 2 (pp. 46-69), "Jewish Immigration and the Tide of Nationalist Anti-Semitism, " relates that the antisemitism of the 1890s-1900s was caused by the anti-alien mood prevalent in this country due to the massive wave of Jewish immigration from Eastern Europe, which led to the introduction of immigration restrictions for Jews (the Quota of 1930 and the Aliens Act Amendment Bill of 1939, directed against refugees from Germany). In the 1930s, a racist element emerged in the antisemitic ideology of the radical right organizations. -- Provided by publisher
