This volume of comprehensive reviews updates our knowledge of research and commercialization of __Bacillus__-based products in agriculture and the environmental sector. The last couple of decades have witnessed tremendous growth of research on __Bacillus__ species. Many of these species can produce industrial enzymes, and can act simultaneously as biofertilizers and as biopesticides inhibiting important phytopathogens. This "biocontrol" activity is now elucidated by a number of genomic and metabolomic studies. Bacillus formulations are being patented and commercialized on a regular basis. Understanding the biology, ecology and mechanism of action of these bacteria will play a role in the promotion of __Bacillus__-based products to support green technology in agriculture and agro-based industries. Front Matter....Pages i-xvi Role of Bacillus Genus in the Production of Value-Added Compounds....Pages 1-33 Bacillus: As Bioremediator Agent of Major Environmental Pollutants....Pages 35-55 Growth Promotion of Nonlegumes by the Inoculation of Bacillus Species....Pages 57-76 Management of the Western Corn Rootworm, Diabrotica virgifera virgifera LeConte, Using Transgenic Bt Maize....Pages 77-89 Bacillus spp.: A Potential Plant Growth Stimulator and Biocontrol Agent Under Hostile Environmental Conditions....Pages 91-111 Bacillus spp.: A Promising Biocontrol Agent of Root, Foliar, and Postharvest Diseases of Plants....Pages 113-141 Bacillus spp. and Their Biotechnological Roles in Green Industry....Pages 143-162 Phytostimulation and Biocontrol by the Plant-Associated Bacillus amyloliquefaciens FZB42: An Update....Pages 163-184 Application of Bacillus spp. for Sustainable Cultivation of Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) and the Benefits....Pages 185-211 Potential and Prospects of Aerobic Endospore-Forming Bacteria (AEFB) in Crop Production....Pages 213-236 New Insights in Plant-Associated Paenibacillus Species: Biocontrol and Plant Growth-Promoting Activity....Pages 237-279 Expanding the Horizons for the Use of Paenibacillus Species as PGPR for Sustainable Agriculture....Pages 281-307 Bacillus spp.: A Prolific Siderophore Producer....Pages 309-323 Bioprospecting of Multiple Hydrolytic Enzymes from Antagonistic Bacillus spp. for Biodegradation of Macromolecules....Pages 325-344 Effect of Organic Biostimulators with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens ssp. plantarum (Former Bacillus subtilis) as the Main Agent in Vegetable Cultivation....Pages 345-366 Can Bacillus Species Enhance Nutrient Availability in Agricultural Soils?....Pages 367-395 Back Matter....Pages 397-416 This volume of comprehensive reviews updates our knowledge of research and commercialization of Bacillus -based products in agriculture and the environmental sector.
