Astrology and Magic from the Medieval Latin and Islamic World to Renaissance Europe: Theories and Approaches (Variorum Collected Studies)

معرفی کتاب «Astrology and Magic from the Medieval Latin and Islamic World to Renaissance Europe: Theories and Approaches (Variorum Collected Studies)» نوشتهٔ Paola Zambelli، منتشرشده توسط نشر Routledge; Ashgate در سال 2000. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

Astrology and Magic from the Medieval Latin and Islamic World to Renaissance Europe brings together ten of Paola Zambelli's papers on the subject, four of which are published in English for the first time. The papers in Part I of this volume deal with theories: the ideas of astrology and magic held by Renaissance thinkers; astrologers' ideas on universal history and its cycles; i.e. catastrophes and rebirths, theories; and myths regarding the spontaneous generation of man himself. Part II focuses on the role of astrologers in Renaissance society. As political counsellors, courtiers, and academics, their ideas were diffused and appreciated in both popular and high culture. Part III looks at the Great Conjunction of 1524 and on the long and extended debate surrounding it, which would not have been possible prior to Gutenberg, since astrologers printed numberless booklets (full of religious and political innuendo) predicting the catastrophe - flood, as well as earthquake or fire - foreseen for February 1524 (which, in the event, proved to be a month of extraordinary mild weather). Part IV reprints some review-articles of twentieth century scholars whose writing has contributed to our understanding of the historical problems concerning magic and other connected debates. 00001 -1 00002 2 00003 3 00004 4 00005 5 00006 6 00007 7 00008 8 00009 9 00010 10 00011 11 00012 12 00013 13 00014 14 00015 15 00016 16 00017 17 00018 18 00019 19 00020 20 00021 21 00022 22 00023 23 00024 24 00025 25 00026 26 00027 27 00028 28 00029 29 00030 30 00031 31 00032 32 00033 33 00034 34 00035 35 00036 36 00037 37 00038 38 00039 39 00040 40 00041 41 Zambelli.pdf -1 00001 -1 00002 -1 00003 -1 00004 -1 00005 -1 00006 -1 00007 42 00008 43 00009 44 00010 45 00011 46 00012 47 00013 48 00014 49 00015 50 00016 51 00017 52 00018 53 00019 54 00020 55 00021 56 00022 57 00023 58 00024 59 00025 60 00026 61 00027 62 00028 63 00029 64 00030 65 00031 66 00032 67 00033 68 00034 69 00035 70 00036 71 00037 72 00038 73 00039 74 00040 75 00041 76 00042 77 00043 78 00044 79 00045 80 00046 81 00047 82 00048 83 00049 84 00050 85 00051 86 00052 87 00053 88 00054 89 00055 90 00056 91 00057 92 00058 93 00059 94 00060 95 00061 96 00062 97 00063 98 00064 99 00065 100 00066 101 00067 102 00068 103 00069 104 00070 105 00071 106 00072 107 00073 108 00074 109 00075 110 00076 111 00077 112 00078 113 00079 114 00080 115 00081 116 00082 117 00083 118 00084 119 00085 120 00086 121 00087 122 00088 123 00089 124 00090 125 00091 126 00092 127 00093 128 00094 129 00095 130 00096 131 00097 132 00098 133 00099 134 00101 135 00102 136 00103 137 00104 138 00105 139 00106 140 00107 -1 00108 142 00109 143 00110 141 00112 144 00113 145 00114 146 00115 147 00116 148 00117 149 00118 150 00119 151 00120 152 00121 153 00122 154 00123 155 00124 -1 Features papers that deal with theories such as: the ideas of astrology and magic held by Renaissance thinkers; astrologers' ideas on universal history and its cycles; that is, catastrophes and rebirths, theories; and myths regarding the spontaneous generation of man himself.
