Astrid Freeman has had a hard life so far. Living in the early 1900s, she has already been sold off once in marriage. When her husband dies in an accident at work, she is left destitute with her late husbands gambling debts posing a huge problem for her. To make matters worse, she is pregnant and fears the stress and trauma she is going through will lead to a forever unhappy life for her and her child. Destined to be sold once again to the holder of one of those debts, Astrid runs to California to join a man who has advertised for a bride. She takes along her best friend, Betty Jane, as support. When she arrives in California, she discovers that things might not work out the way she originally planned. She didnt reveal her pregnancy to wealthy Jason Donner. Will he accept her and her child?
