This is a collection of manifestos, critical texts, and writings addressing public issues written by artists and artist groups from Eastern Europe between 1947 and 2009. The collection is result of an international curatorial research collaboration of four organizations: What, How and for Whom/WHW, Croatia; New Media Center_kuda.org, Serbia; Museum Sztuki in ŁódÅź; and tranzit.hu. These essays and assorted works present various genres and positions, in addition to the historical, political, and social contexts that urged artists to engage in discursive and textual practices during the decades included. It presents various strategies artists used in reaction to the social and political changes of the period
