Approximation Theory: In Memory of A.K. Varma (Chapman & Hall/CRC Pure and Applied Mathematics)

A collection of over 30 carefully selected papers by 45 internationally recognized mathematicians, in honor of A. K. Varma, reflecting his lifelong passion for investigating polynomials, inequalities in Lp and uniform metrics. This work honors A. K. Varma's indelible contributions to the field of approximation theory with a collection of over 30 carefully selected papers by 45 internationally distinguished mathematicians, reflecting his lifelong passion for investigating subjects such as interpolation by polynomials and splines, quadrature formulae, order of pointwise and uniform approximation of finitely differentiable functions by polynomials, and Bernstein and Markov type inequalities in L[superscript p] and uniform metrics. 'Contains the contributions of 45 internationally distinguished mathematicians covering all areas of approximation theory-written in honor of the pioneering work of Arun K. Varma to the fields of interpolation and approximation of functions, including Birhoff interpolation and approximation by spline functions.' We introduce Lidstone polynomials and establish several identities and inequalities involving these polynomials.
