Analysis of Aircraft Structures: An Introduction (Cambridge Aerospace Series)

معرفی کتاب «Analysis of Aircraft Structures: An Introduction (Cambridge Aerospace Series)» نوشتهٔ Bruce K. Donaldson، منتشرشده توسط نشر Cambridge University Press (Virtual Publishing) در سال 2008. این کتاب در فرمت pdf، زبان انگلیسی ارائه شده است.

As with the first edition, this textbook provides a clear introduction to the fundamental theory of structural analysis as applied to vehicles, aircraft, spacecraft, automobiles, and ships. The emphasis is on the application of fundamental concepts of structural analysis in everyday engineering practice. No assumptions are made with regard to the method of analysis. All approximations are accompanied by a full explanation of their validity. Repetition is an important learning tool, and so some redundancy appears to dispel misunderstanding. The number of topics covered in detail is limited to those essential for modern structural engineering practice. In this new edition, more topics, figures, examples, and exercises have been added. A primary change has been a greater emphasis on the finite element methods of analysis. Three new chapters are now included, and clarity remains the hallmark of this text Stress in structures -- Stresses and coordinate axis rotations -- Displacements and strains -- Strains in rotated coordinate systems -- The mechanical behavior of engineering materials -- Linearly elastic materials -- The theory of elasticity -- Plane stress theory of elasticity solutions -- Bending and extensional stresses in beams -- Beam bending and extensional deflections -- Additional beam bending topics -- Uniform torsion of beams -- Beam torsion approximate solutions -- Beam shearing stresses due to shearing forces -- Work and potential energy principles -- Precursor numerical analyses -- Introduction to the finite element method -- Finite element truss problems -- Basic aspects of multidimensional finite elements -- The unit load method for determinate structures -- The unit load method for indeterminate structures -- Thin plate theory -- Elastic and aeroelastic instabilities Frontmatter......Page 1 Contents......Page 11 Introduction to the Second Edition......Page 19 Introduction to the First Edition......Page 21 List of Repeated Engineering Symbols......Page 25 Acknowledgments......Page 33 Part I - The Fundamentals of Structural Analysis......Page 43 1 - Stress in Structures......Page 47 2 - Stresses and Coordinate Axis Rotations......Page 80 3 - Displacements and Strains......Page 110 4 - Strains in Rotated Coordinate Systems......Page 137 5 - The Mechanical Behavior of Engineering Materials......Page 151 6 - Linearly Elastic Materials......Page 188 Part II - **Introduction to the Theory of Elasticity**......Page 207 7 - The Theory of Elasticity......Page 209 8 - Plane Stress Theory of Elasticity Solutions......Page 234 Parts I and II Review Questions......Page 253 Part III - Engineering Theory for Straight, Long Beams......Page 261 9 - Bending and Extensional Stresses in Beams......Page 267 10 - Beam Bending and Extensional Deflections......Page 313 11 - Additional Beam Bending Topics......Page 352 12 - Uniform Torsion of Beams......Page 410 13 - Beam Torsion Approximate Solutions......Page 445 Beam Bending and Torsion Review Questions......Page 476 14 - Beam Shearing Stresses Due to Shearing Forces......Page 486 Part IV - Work and Energy Principles......Page 517 15 - Work and Potential Energy Principles......Page 521 Part V - Energy-Based Numerical Solutions......Page 563 16 - **Precursor Numerical Analyses**......Page 565 17 - Introduction to the Finite Element Method......Page 587 18 - Finite Element Truss Problems......Page 644 19 - Basic Aspects of Multidimensional Finite Elements......Page 665 20 - The Unit Load Method for Determinate Structures......Page 697 21 - The Unit Load Method for Indeterminate Structures......Page 742 Parts IV and V Review Questions......Page 789 Part VI - Thin Plate Theory and Structural Stability......Page 799 22 - Thin Plate Theory......Page 801 23 - Elastic and Aeroelastic Instabilities......Page 834 Appendix A - Additional Topics......Page 881 Appendix B - Selected Answers to Exercises......Page 895 References......Page 967 Index......Page 971

As with the first edition, this textbook provides a clear introduction to the fundamental theory of structural analysis as applied to vehicular structures such as aircraft, spacecraft, automobiles and ships. The emphasis is on the application of fundamental concepts of structural analysis that are employed in everyday engineering practice. All approximations are accompanied by a full explanation of their validity. In this new edition, more topics, figures, examples and exercises have been added. There is also a greater emphasis on the finite element method of analysis. Clarity remains the hallmark of this text and it employs three strategies to achieve clarity of presentation: essential introductory topics are covered, all approximations are fully explained and many important concepts are repeated This text provides clear instruction in the fundamental concepts of structural analysis applied to vehicular structures such as aircraft, automobiles, ships and spacecraft. It employs three strategies to achieve clarity of presentation: essential introductory topics are covered, all approximations are fully explained and many important concepts are repeated.
