Analemmatic sundials – science and entertainment

The first five chapters of the book (I. Gnomonics: key terms; II. Coordinate geometry on the Earth and the celestial sphere; III. The apparent motion of the sun; IV. System of hours; V. Analemma) represent a long introduction to Chapter VI (Calculation of the analemmatic sundial) in which a step-by-step explanation is provided on how to calculate elements of both hour and date dials of the analemmatic sundial for places in the northern hemisphere. Chapter VII is written based on the experience and contains a description of all phases of making a dial of an analemmatic sundial with specific examples. Chapter VIII discusses the use of analemmatic sundial as a teaching tool in classes outside school classroom at all levels of education.
