An Outsider's Guide to Antifa is a multi-volume, introductory text on the anti-fascist movement, from first principles and its emergence in history, to the specifics of the modern day social movement. Methodology & Findings Given the qualitative nature of the epistemology of fascism, interviews were used as the primary tool. Interviews occurred face-to-face, via phone, e-mail, message boards such as 4chan and Reddit, and utilizing social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Mastodon. For each individual, the question of “What is fascism?” was proposed during the interview, with varying follow-up questions as necessary. Antifa members of a semi-randomized sample (n = 75), including members from a variety of locations around the country, were interviewed regarding definitions of fascism. Common themes identified during interviews were that capitalism's final stage is fascism, imperialism is an expression of capitalism and fascism, and the underlying problem is not a specific leader, but the global hegemony.
