Adsideo: Cross-cultural Ministry in the United States (NMI Mission Education Resources)

Adsideo is Latin meaning to walk beside. Jim and Gina Wicks were called to minister within the United States in a culture not their own. The mission team reflected God's love as its members befriended an inner-city neighborhood, together, shared meals, studied the Scriptures, and even lived within the culture. They lean on each other, celebrate and cry together, and share life. Adsideo: Latin word meaning "to walk beside" "No mission field at this time is so essential for the redemption of the world from sin as the preaching and establishing of holiness in America"-P.F. Jim and Gina Wicks were called to missions-to serve with others who had recieved the same calling-to minister in a culture within the United States that is not their own. They were led to the historic Sellwood neighborhood in the inner southeast core of Portland, Oregon, where the percentage of the population with a background of Christianity was only six percent. THe mission team believed God wanted them to be His reflection as they befriended the neighborhood and devoted themselves to meeting together, sharing meals, studying the scriptures, and living spontaneously within the culture.
