Combining theoretical essays with reports and testimonies about campus life and campus struggles, the book provides a unique account of the impact of the World Bank's structural adjustment program on African education and the forces that are shaping the production of knowledge in Africa today. Part I contains an in-depth analysis and criticism of the World Bank's educational policy, and the consequences of privatization, cost-sharing, rationalization, and globalization on the future of the African educational systems.
