A History of the Sepoy War in India 1857-1858 1

This Volume is divided into three sections. The first section contains four chapters and deals mostly with Lord Dalhousie’s administration and policies, the conquest of Punjab, the policy of Doctrine of Lapse, Annexation of Awadh, etc. The second section, consisting of five chapters, discusses the rise of ‘sepoy’ discontentment in the British Army and the impact of the defeat of the English in the war in Afghanistan. The last section includes seven chapters that describe the events of the ‘Sepoy Mutiny’ of 1857.
