The advance of the revolution in 1925-1927 and its recoil in 1927-1929 were dramatic, and present problems which are still open to debate. The chapter on China will occupy nearly half of the third part, still to come, of this volume. This part will also deal with the other 'semi-colonial' countries of Asia, including India, with Latin America, which began for the first time in this period to attract serious attention in Moscow, and with the treatment by Comintem of the Negro question in the United States and in South Mrica. Work on this part is far advanced, and publication should not be long delayed. It will contain the index to all three parts of the volume. Volume 3 deals with Soviet foreign relations from 1926 to 1929. Part 1 covers Soviet diplomatic relations with the major capitalist countries, and the procedures of the Communist International.
